Crimson Bellied Conure - Pyrrhura Perlata


Also known as the Crimson Bellied Parakeet. Native to the south-central Amazon rainforest of Brazil and Bolivia. Still fairly common within their home range, they are considered 'vulnerable" by the IUCN - International Union for Conservation of Nature due to deforestation. They are fairly common within aviculture.

Adults are partly green in color with a bright crimson red on the lower chest and abdomen. The edges of the wing is blue. The adult coloring starts to appear between 6 - 9 month after hatching.

The Crimson Bellied Conures we started out with were both males. It's taken us a while, but both birds now have mates. They started giving us chicks in 2021 and they are amazing.
